  • Colonel Smith Middle School is part of the Fort Huachuca School District. This district was established in 1956 and hosts 3 schools on the Fort Huachuca Military Reservation. The district is one of only seven independent/separate school districts within the United States located entirely on a military reservation and the only one in the state of Arizona.

  • Colonel Smith Middle School houses students in Grades 6, 7 and 8. The Instructional Program is driven by technology and focuses on student achievement that is appropriately differentiated for each grade level. Technology is in the hands of all students with 1 to 1 Chromebooks that have  wireless access throughout the entire site. The hot spot or nerve centers for each grade level are in the Collaboration Areas, while the Research Commons serves as a common resource for investigation and exploration. Instructional delivery methods focus on best practices that stress real world problem solving.

  • All indoor and outdoor spaces are available for learning - every square foot counts! Entry to the school site and all areas of the building are designed to create interest, curiosity and learning opportunities for students. Information kiosks welcome students and visitors to the site. The kiosks, designed by CSMS students, include information about the building, site and local geography, as well as inspiring quotes that reflect the CSMS philosophy.
