School Counselor

Hello and thanks for visiting my web page! My name is Jan Andreini-Camps, and I am proud to be the School Counselor at Colonel Smith Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year. This is my 35th year working for the Ft. Huachuca Accommodation School District, with 16 years working as a 4th grade teacher, and 19 working as a counselor at the elementary and middle school levels.

I was born and raised in Upper Michigan, and attended Northern Michigan University to obtain a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I later attended the University of Phoenix to obtain my master's degree in Educational Counseling as well as my Administrative Certification.

My main goal as a counselor is to provide academic, career and social/emotional support to all of our students. I prefer to be proactive and work with those who need assistance prior to any situation spiraling or getting out of control. So if there is ever a need for me to intervene, please don't hesitate to email or call me anytime at [email protected] or 520-417-8466. You may also call the school office number at 520-459-8892. I am more than willing to help your child resolve any issue.
Confidentiality Law
Student and family privacy is very important. All information shared with a school counselor will remain confidential unless:
***A student shares a plan to harm himself, herself or someone else.
***There is suspicion a student may be a victim of abuse or neglect.

In these situations, school counselors are required by law to report this information, and may also share information with teachers/staff on a "need to know" basis with student or parent permission.
